♦ The Star Office, This Day. The land sales to-day amounted to 317 as follows : — Ellesmere district, 90 acres ; Oxrord, 40 ; Mavern, 187. Wilson and Alport report a short supply of cattle at market on Saturday. Those to hand were of good quality, and sold readily at full rates, one superior dairy cow realizing £13 ss. An unbroken well-bred gelding brought £9. T. Preece's sale yards were as usual largely attended on Saturday, and the live stock &c. sold at improved rates. Pigs fetched good prices, especially porkers, weighing from 70: to 10t) lbs each ; well bred store pigs sell! well ; there is also a brisk demand for poul-j try. The following are prices realised onj Saturday : Poultry, common fowls, 3s 6d to; 5s per pair ; Dorkings, 7s 6d ; ducks, 4s to os per pair ; geese, 5s 6d to 7s each ; turkeys, 6s to 9s each. Produce : flour, seconds, £1 2 per ton ; sharps, lOd to Is per bushel ; bran,; 9d and lOd ; bran, damaged, 4d ; oats, 2s Gd! to 23 9d ; barley 3s to 3s 6d ; peas, infer- ' ior, 2s 6d ; do, good, 3s 6d to 4s 6d ; beans, 3s to 4s. Potatoes, Derwents, £3 10s per ton ; superior do, ±'4. bacon, 4£d and 5d per lb ; hams, 5d and Gd do ; cheese, medium quality, 4^d to Gd per lb ; lard, 5d and 6d per lb. Several new and second-hand drays, carts, &c, were disposed of ; also, a quantity of new and second-hand furniture, stoves, musical instruments and miscellaneous goods,) some of the above realising very good? prices. / f.
