General Assembly.
Thitbsdat, Oct. 1. [bt submarine telegraph.] Wellington, This Day, 12.30 p.m. The House sat only four hours last sight. Mr Reynolds explained that his words "bought and sold, <fee," were intended to allude to the country party having been induced to give their adhesion to the Government by promises of financial adjustment. On the Government abandoning that adjustment, some members of the party had admitted that the Government had completely sold them. Mr Stafford moved " That it is not neceasary to proceed further in the matter." After a short debate, the motion was carried. The Ballot Bill was reported to the House on a division — 24 to 12. Mr W. H. Harrison's motion, for a committee to adjust the liabilities on account of loans between Canterbury and Westland, was withdrawn. The Order of the Day for going into Committee of Supply was postponed on the motion of Mr Hall. Mr Fitzherbert advertised in the London papers that Canterbury eight per cents., 1856, will be exchanged for £109 10s.
