Present : Councillors England, Allwright, Willcox, Mutton, Ward, Balestiee, and Chalmers ; the Mayor presiding. The minutes of ths former meeting were lead and confirmed. The amount collected during the week wa» 'stated to be £15 8s 2d. A letter from Mr DOyly, solicitor, was read. It gave an opinion that the Government could not re-enter upon the municipal reserves. Mr Godfrey had another week allowed him for preparing the assessment roll. Mr Graham's claim for £25 was read and provoked a long discussion. It was agreed, eventually, that Mr Willcox be the arbitrator for the Council. Mr Graham stated he was willing that Mr Willcox Bhould act for him. He would be bound by his decision. rernor's Bay road was read, and it was decided to apply to Government for aid. letter from his Worship the Mayor of Christchurch, accompanied by a framed set of photographs of the Christchurch Council, was read by the Mayor, The letter begged the acceptance of the came, — -Ifwas resolved that a letter Jtiereturned, accepting, with thanks, the present/ With respect to the Resident Ma.iutrate's Court, it was resolved to write to Dr Donald, R.M., on the subject. The following accounts ware pa c scd : — pay-sheet, £8 1-is fid ; petty cash £10. Mr Ward's motion, that the by-laws be advertised, was carried. It was resolved that Mr Chalmers' Drainage Bill be forwarded to Mr G. Macfarlan, to getit passed through the General Assembly.
