BASKET=BALL MATCH (Own Correspondent) : The new basket-hall field adjacent to the Pukeliina Hull was the scene .of much excitement and merriment on Saturday afteanoon, wlien the Te Puke High. School; girls met the Pukeliina girls at basketball, and later each team playing a team of local kills. Up till half-time the .High School were well i:f ike lead by 9-2, but in the second half the local team managed to catch up the game, finishing with a score of 17-16 in favour of Pukeliina. Both teams played exceptionally well, winning much applause from the many spectators. . * In the games with the boys, the girls proved too good for them. Some of the boys Caused 'much merriment for the onlookers by bringing football tactics into the game, but nevertheless, the lads were not disgraced at their defeat. Later, the visiting players and others were entertained to afternoon tea by the local team, bringing to air end a most pleasant afternoon s outing. . Mrs Wisnesky was referee for the girls’ match and Miss R. The annual meeting of the Pukehina Hall Association took place last; week in the Pukehina Halt, the President, Mr J. l’attie being m the chair. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. In his report, the President in making reference to the new additions which were found necessary to the Hall, spoke highly of the co-operation and work of the committee, and also thanked them for the manner in which they had supported. him throughout the year. The finances were found to be very satisfactory, and all present were well pleased with the manner in which tiremanagement of the Hall had been conducted. A vote of thanks by acclamation was accorded. Mr G. Gordon for bis work in connection with the biiucling of the Hall, and also to Mrs Aff Duckworth for her work in connection with social affairs. ‘ • Tire election of officers resulted in Mr J. Pattie being re-elected chairman; Mr H. Knox, secretary (re-elected) ; Mr S. Winters jnr., (treasurer) ; and Messrs Si Winters senior, G. Gordon, R. Hika, R. Rogers, L. Dodunski, J. Ngawhika and J. Anderson all being re-elected to the committee. Mrs A.. Duckworth, Mrs G., Gordon and kliss R. Woisin were elected to the social committee.
