HOME GARDEN COMPETITIONS The following Home Gardens Competitions, with the judging points, are included in the 1939 competitions for the Te Puke Boys’ and Girls’ Agriculture Club.: The competitions are open to all children from Standard 3 to Foijfri 2, and also include children attending the District High School. Vegetable Plots Size, 20 feet by 9 feet. .Total area not} to exceed 200 square feet. Crops.—Two rows each of the following: Peas or beans, carrots, lettuce, potatoes and silver beet. Judging Points.—Growth,' 40 points; freedom from weeds, 15 points; cultivation, 25 points;staking, moulding, etc., 10 points; ; thinning and transplanting, 10 points; a total of 100 points. Flower Plots Size, 10 feet by 9 feet. Total area not to exceed 100 square feet. Special list of twenty varieties, form which five at least to be selected to give the best display at judging ;Phlox, ageratum', antirrhinum, calendula, candytuft; sweet' peas, gaillardia, schizan-' thus, clarkia, godetia, violas, larkspur, celosia, liharia, marigold, petunia, picotee, Iceland poppy, stock (ten week), stock (virginian). Judging Points. —Design, 25 points, bloom, 25 points; variety, 25, points; soil, 25 points, a total of 100 points. At the Kield Day to be held early ijj. December, an exhibition of flowers vegetables from the Home Garden PhnV will be held. ,i Additional Competition The committee, has decided to include pet lambs in the club’s competition? this year'. ’. tyi
