WEDDING

CAMPNEY—HUGHES A wedding of wide interest to residents of Te Puke district was ce'ebrated at St. Andrew’s Church on Wed .esday, 12th July, when Violet May, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs E. H. Hughes, of “Maungaraaigi,” ■■ Paengaro, was married to Henry James, only son of Mr and Mrs J. Gampney, Maketu. The Rev. Porter officiated, and Miss Molly Pilcher was the organist. The tall, fair-haired bride who was given away by her father, looked charming in her gown of ivory satin worn with a redingote of rich, cream lace, finished at the back with ivory satin buttons, and the long tight sleeves converging into points at each wrist. Her tulle embossed veil appliqued with satin roses was caught to the head with a halo of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of cream camelias and lilies."

In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Janie. Hughes, sister of the bride, and Miss Olive Barrow, who wore graceful frocks of seafoam green lace° and net over matching taffetas. They wore in their hair roses of [pink; and carried bouquets of camelias in the same shade. Dressed in a long tucked frock of seafoam green net, a halo of pink flowers in her hair, Jean Gibson made a charming little flower girl. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Douglas Hughes as best man and by Mr Alby Hughes as groomsman. Mr Louis Hughes and Mr Jack Barrow were ushers.

Following the ceremony a large reception was heid ai Baikie’s Ted. Rooms, the bride’s mother receiving her guests in a storm blue tailored frock, trimmed with petunia and smart hat to tone. She carried a bouquet of violets. Mrs Gampney, mother of the brid? groom, was wearing a navy hat and carried flowers in autumn tints. Later Mr and Mrs Henry Gampney left by car, the bride travelling in a frock of navy, trimmed with a matching velvet and hat of blue plush.

Visitors to the wedding included M:s Gun (Auckland), Mrs Walsh (A ivklaud), Mbs Harray (Alatamata), Mrs Gilmore (Matamatg), Mr and Mis May (Matamata), Mrs Gurtis (Rotorua.), Mr anr Mrs Sam Douglas, Mr and Mis Barrow, Miss Mary\ Barrow , Misses Molly and Rosie Bradford. A finale to a very happy wedding was held in the evening 3jt Mr and Mrs Hughes’ residence, where most of the guests assembled, Mr and Mrs Hughes proving themselves excellent and jolly hosts.
