PUKEHINA BRANCH A well-attended meeting of members and friends of the P.W.M.U. was held in the Pukehina Hall on Wednesday, stn inst. Mrs Horwell, of Edgecumbe, presided. Ulrs, Masson, .....Dominion . President, and formerly a missionary in China, gave a very interesting ' address '• on mission work there. Mrs Mawson also displayed a number of Chinese silk garments, including a tirty shbe worn J by a Chinese woman, when the practice of binding baby girls’ feet was the custom. “We can thank Christianity,” said ‘Mrs Mawson, ‘‘for stamping out this cruelty, through our missionaries' who are icing such noble work there.” Mrs Caverhill, on behalf of these piesent thanked the speaker for her most interesting address. Afteriibon tea was then sbr m 1 ’ arid a very sociable hour was spent at the close of the meeting.
