At a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Whakatane Rugby Union last week the chairman stated that the Bay Union was making arrangements for the Waikato-Bay of Plenty match, and considered that in view of the Union agreeing to play the Taranaki match at Whakatane definite arrangements should be made for the Taranaki match, or else the Waikato game should be fixed for Whakatane. —lt was resolved that the secretary be instructed to write to the Bay of Plenty Union requesting information as to whether the Taranaki - Bay of Plenty match was a definite fix. ture, and if not that the Waikato match be played at Whakatane.

UNITED v. PAPAMOA This game was not very interesting from the point of view of a spectator. The combination of the Papamoa backs was not all that could be wished for, whilst, the United backs and forwards who have played together in previous seasons, handled the ball well throughout the game. The result was a decisive victory for United by 17 points to 3. United’s points were scored by Kelly, Joyce, Rolfe and Llpsey, Arthur converting one try and also goaling from a free kick. Papamoa s try was registered by McClausland. - V PONGAKAWA v, RANGIURU The Pongakawa team is back into its old form judging by the result of Saturday's match against Rangiuru for both backs and forwards worked well together and showed good combination, With the fast moving backs and forwards of the Rangiuru team against them they made the game open and interesting and attracted the greater number of spectators. This game proved to be the best played this season. Pongakawa being the winners by 17 points to 6. Pongakawa’s points were made up of 2 tries by Morkell and 1 each by Moko, Hales and 1 Atkinson, with a conversion by , Wickliffe.

The Junior games were well fought out and some very clever play was seen in both games. The results were: — United defeated Pongakawa, 12—3 ; Papamoa defeated Rangiuru, 6—5.

The following players will re present the Pongakawa junior team next Saturday l -Forwards : Alley, Wilkins, Drake. Gourley, Walters, Perkinson, Whyman, Steer ; backs : Miguel, Walters, Tapsell, Shearer, Wbare, Kenny. Wickliffe. Emergencies : Patara, Bennett. Hughes, Rolleston, Sharplin. i.
