Papamoa Women’s Institute
(From a Correspondent). Mrs Bear presided over a good attendance of members at the last meeting of the Papamoa Women s Institute. Routine business was transacted, after whioh the President was appointed to represent the Institute at the forthoom* Dominion Conference to be held in Christchuroh at the end of the month.
A. letter was read from the Mtn* worth" link" in England and also ona from the Northumberland press correspondent with reference to our Bo.wsden “ lfnk.’* Another institute baby was wbl* corned, It was deoided to follow the suggestion in the Home and Country Journal in respect 1 to a half fee per member fund for special use at headquarters. SeV« eral beautiful! embroidered squares were handed in for tho community quilt. A lengthy discussion took pIaQS with regard to the Birthday ing, which is to be held nekt month. It was decided to hold this meeting in the afternoon, the day to be changed to the seoond Thursday in the month. . A m ° st interesting and instrudtive address on New- Zealand ferns, their cultivation, and tho making of ferneries was given by Mr Cameron, of Tauranga/ In a points competition for paSJry Mrs Bird was placed first and Miss Bear second. In an aprdn competition, the material not to cost more than one shilling, Mrs Morton s entry was awarded first and Mrs Pevreal’s second. It was decided to send a letter of sympathy to Mrs MailmanfijN secretary to the Paengaroa vf®en s Institute, who recently- lost her husband. „ The usual Bring and Buy and Gardening stalls did good business throughput the afternoon. The hostesses were Mesdames Jackson and Lees.
