Monthly Meeting The monthly meeting of Tautanga County Council was held in the Coronation Hall on Friday. Present: Crs S.. H. MacDougall (Chairman), W. F. Sinclair, C. E. S Gane, J. M. Darragh, C. Lally, A. B. Morton, G. H. Mends and J. N. Blaymire3. Money for Bridges On the motion of Cr Sinclair it was decided —That the Council to the./ Local Government Loans Board for its sanction . to borrow the sum of £I7OO, being the amount required on a £2 for £l subsidy basis, as provided by the Main Highways Board, for the re erection of four bridges DOW in a state of disrepair namely, tjie Otamarakau and KaikokopU Stream Bridges, on the Wbaka-tane-Tauranga Main Highway, and the Aongatete and Te Mania Stream Bridges, on the TaurangaWftihi Main Highway. “Thirds” and “Fourths’ 4 The Commissioner of Crown Lands, Auckland, forwarded schedule of "thirds'’ and’ fourths” aCCrued from sections in the County for the six months 'ended March $1,1933. The amount was gat 13s lOd. Slaughterhouse Licenses Renewals of slaughterhouse licenses were granted to T. Paterson, Te Maunga \ C. G. Griffiths, Omokoroa V A. H. Was.her, Raengaroa t Johnston Bros, Aatikati; H. E. Butcher, Te Puke ;J. J. Dodd, Omokoroa. Purchase of Truck
the Chairman of the Main Highways Board wrote forwarding for seal and signature, agree* thent relative to the hire purchase bjr the , Cotincil of a Bedford • truck. —It was decided that the document be sealed and signed. Petrol Pump at Paengaroa An agreement in respe'Ct to the lease to the Council of a petrol pump at Paengaroa was submitted and the details were explained by the-Engineer. Cr Blayrhires moved —That the agreement be Completed—-Second-ed by Cr Mends and Carried. Ho Bating Proposal Mr H. J. Gill, Hon Secretary 'of the Te Puke Branch of the Partners’ XJn ion wrote stating that at a recent meeting it was tesolVed to request the Council tn Seriously consider the question of refraining from striking any rates Tlor the ensuing year. He added ; “It was considered that owing' to the poor returns that farmers Were receiving for their produce, * they Were not in a position to pay County ' rates, and, meantime, Until the position improves they suggest that no rates bo struck. ’ The letter was received.
