The senior match, United v. Papamoa, played on the local ground on Saturday, proved very exciting, the latter winning by 17 points to 8. The game, which was closely contested, was witnessed by a big crowd of spectators. Tries were scored for the winners by Jones, McCullough, and Chapman. McNaughton converted two of- the tries and also registered a goal from a drop kick. For United Barker scored a try, which was converted by Arthur, latter also kicked a penlfhe other senior fixture, Rangiuru v Huimai. did not eventuate, the latter. Club failing to put a team in the field.

The junior competitions were continued on the local ground last {Saturday. The United team was successful against Huimai, winning by 14 points to nil. For the winners B. Smith, W. Butcher, N. The following players have been sel p cted to go into training for the purpose of enabling the final selection of a representative team. Thes,e players will receive training and coaching every Tuesday and Thursday evenings com mencmg at 7.30- The services of Mr Lowe are again available in this connection. Any player ' unable to attend most notify the selectors or secretary otherwise he will not be considered when the team is selected for Opotiki. Training operations will commence this evening.
