At a meeting of the Tauranga Electric Power Board last week Mr Gane referred to the unpaid account fer power supplied to Muir’s Mines, which amounted to £585. The secretary stated that representations had been made to the Government but the amount had not been paid.
Latest advices from Pukekohe are to the effect that, as a result of the severe check caused by frosts in August, the crops are not making the headway expected Under normal conditions. The season, therefore, will be late in commencing, and only a limited supply of potatoes will be available during October. Unless conditions alter soon it will be well into November before larger quantities are offering.
We understand on good authority- that the Te Kopu flax mill, situated on the Kaituna River, and formerly run by Mr E. L. Broad, will re-open in.the Course of a few days. Arrangements have been completed with the TaUranga Power Board for a supply of power and the mill is now being put in working order. Messrs J. R. Talt and L. Massey will be in charge. This is Welcome news for It is expected that other mills in tho distrod will, erelong, also re-open.

We give a reminder of the meeting to be held in St. Andrew’s Hall tonight, when an address will be given by Mr Hastings, of Hamilton, organiser for the N. Z. Pig Marketing Association.
A very pretty wedding was solemnised in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Taneatua, on Wednesday morning, when Nessie Mary, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs E. A. McPeake, Taneatua, was joined in holy matrimony to John James, third son of Mr and Mrs W. Butler, Opotiki.
Members of the Methodist Ladies Guild are holding a Paddy’s Market in McDowell’s Hall on Tuesday next and will be pleased to receive donations of produce, cakes, lollies or any gifts suitable for a jumble stall. Admission to the market will be free. Numerous competitions will be arranged in the evening.
