Monthly Meeting The monthly meeting of the Tauranga County Council was held last Friday. Present : Messrs S. H. MacDofifialf/Cnairman) W. F. Sinclair, CrE. 8; Gane, J. M. Darragh, C. iArtly, A. B. Morton, G. H. Mends and J. N. Blaymiree. Subsidy on Rates The Treasury forwarded voucher for £1108,16s 2d subsidy on rates for the past year, distribut ed as follows : Katikati Riding, £lsl Os lid ; Te Puna Riding, £ll6 6s 5d ; Waimapu Riding, £204 10s 5d ; Te Puke Riding. £227 9s 5d ; Maketu Riding, £409 8s lid. Subsidy on Rates The New Zealand Counties’ Association forwarded correspondence relating to the Government rebate bf 12| per cent on rates last year and the advocacy by various oounty counoils of the continuance of the subsidy this year. *lt was stated that the ques : tion was, where was tbe money to oome from for the subsidy. On the motion of Cr Gane who said they had been told that the subsidy was the first step in the direction of derating, it was decided that a letter be sent to the Prime Minister on the matter on the lines indicated by the mover. Road at Canaan Mr Pat W ihapi, Te Puke, wrote on behalf of his uncle, Te Amo Koroniria, asking that the county engineer define the boundary of a certain property which is to be fenced. —The matter was referred to tbe engineer to report upon. Ranging and*lmpounding Replies received from the Whakatane, Cook, Opotiki, Waikato, Matamata, Waipa and Rotorua County Councils in respect to impounding, ranging and dog registration matters were read. The Chairman moved—That tbe Clerk and Engineer report to the Council on the question of co-or-dinating traffic and health inspection and impounding and dog registration. Cr Blaymires seconded the motion which was oarried,
