PARNELL.
This exceedingly interesting fight is causing a vast deal of- speculation the sitting member, Mr J. S. Dickson, having no doubt of _ the ultimate issue, relying on his past performances and success. Recent developments will have the effect of making Mr Dickson's return practically assured. Until Monday noon Mr Frank Lawry, one of the best known politicians in New Zealand, but who had apparently retired finally, was not thought of as a probable candidate, but his entrance into the field has induced Messrs Gleeson and Dempsey and the impossible Storey to pull out. There are left in the fight, therefore, Messrs Dickson, the Reform member, Mr Frank Lawry, an old habitual member, and Mr Sullivan, a young man perfectly new to politics and who it is assumed will split votes with Mr Lawry. Mr Dickson's position and his past services will give him a strong hold, although a revival of Liberal interest in Mr Lawry's favour will help to make the fight a close one. It is impossible to avoid the conclusion that the seat will fall to Mr Dickson again.
