AUCKLAND CENTRAL.
The wide popularity enjoyed by Mr A. E. Glover, M.P. for Auckland Central, makes his position in die light of weak opposition peculiarly strong. Mr Glover is of his
kind a remarkable man. He is perfectly frank and unconventional. He pretends nothing and depends on his personal popularity and his services to send him back again. He is absolutely tireless in his pursuit of any bauble to hang round the neck of the fair city of the Waitemata. It is his absolute faithfulness to the interests of Auckland Central that gives him a unique hold on the seat. As a democrat he could not be on any side of politics than the side you find him on. He might have been displaced perhaps Hf stronger opposition than that he is faced with had been courageous enough to storm the fort. He will, of course, not be ousted either by Mr William Richardson, who is dealing with economic subjects he unhappily does not quite understand, or by Mr M. J. Savage, who, however able he may be, is handicapped by appearing as a Social Democrat, a brand that is not popular. Mr Glover will return to Parliament not for anything new he has been able to say but because of his record of fight for his constituents.
