AUCKLAND WEST.

Mr J. H. Bradney, M.P. for Auckland West, has had many local successes. Against very powerful opposition he headed the poll for the first election to the Harbour Board held under the popular franchise. In Parliament he has erred a little by being too explanatory, but there is no doubt he holds strong views and has a quality of adhering to them that carries him far with many people. His attitude in regard to Labour matters has, perhaps, weakened his hold little. He is up against the formidable platform man, Mr C. H. Poole, who has the advantage of a profound belief in himself and a boldness of attack and method that is greatly admired by large sections of the community. Mr Poole has the further advantage that politics for the time being becomes his sole business and he has all the tricks of the trade at his tongue's end. A methodical attack and a profound belief in his ability to score will most probably send Mr Poole to Parliament again.
