piTY OF AUCKLAND. SPECIAL ORDER MAKING BY-LAWS No. 14. Public Notice is hereby given that at the Ordinary Meeting of the Auckland City Council, to be held in the Council Chamber, Queen-street, Auckland, on THURSDAY, the 22nd day of February, 1912, a Resolution will be submitted for the confirmation of the following Special Order, made at a Special Meeting of the said Council on the 25th day of January, 1912, viz.:— That the Auckland City Council doth hereby by Special Resolution intended to operate as a Special Order, make the following Bylaws, to be known hereafter as By-laws No. 14, viz. (here follow the By-laws):— The object or purport of the said Bylaws is as follows:— To incorporate the By-laws with Bylaws No. 1 of the City of Auckland. To secure cleanliness in the person of those engaged in the manufacture, preparation, storage, packing, carriage, or delivery of food for sale. To forbid any person suffering from infectious or communicable disease, or who is in attendance on a person so suffering, from. engaging in the manufacture, preparation, storage, packing, carriage, or delivery for sale of any food or drug or any article used or intended to be used as a food or drug. To forbid the use of any receptacle, article, or place for or in connection with the manufacture, preparation, storage, or packing of any food for sale, unless such shall at all times be kept clean and free from damp and foul odours, protected from vermin, and as far as practicable from flies and dust. To forbid the use of any place for the sale, manufacture, preparation, storage, or packing of any food for sale which has been used as a sleeping apartment or in which anything is or has been kept, or any animal is- allowed to be, or in which any work is carried on, or which is or has been used for any purpose likely to contaminate such food. To forbid the use of any animal, vehicle, or receptacle in the carriage or delivery of any food unless the same be kept clean. To provide for the adequate protection of any meat or fish or any food which is ordinarily consumed in the state in which it is sold, and to forbid the carrying of such food through the streets unless adequately protected. To secure the proper packing of food. To forbid the use of any room or place for the sale of or the "boning, curing, canning, salting, mincing, or other similar process of preparation of the meat or fat of animals for sale for human food unless —• (a) Such premises are licensed. (b) Such premises are provided with flooring of certain specified materials, and built in specified manner. (c) The ceiling is constructed of specified material and kept constantly cleansed. (d) The external openings of such room or place not enclosed with glass shall be completely covered with wire. (c) Every such room or place is adequately ventilated. To forbid the use of any such floors unless free from the accumulation of fat, etc., and to provide for the thorough cleansing of such floors once daily. To forbid the keeping of bffnes or waste matters for longer than 12 hours in any premises used for the preparation of meat, etc., for sale for human food. To forbid the use of any room for the boning or any other process of preparation whatsoever of meat for food which is in communication with a stable, urinal, privy, or water-closet, or which has in it an opening into a drain or sewer. To forbid the proprietor, manager, or person in charge of any hotel, restaurant, tearoom, grillroom, fish shop, or public eating house to permit the use of any room in which food is prepared for human consumption unless such room— (a) Is at least 7ft in height and pro- ■ vided with walls of a specified j construction.
