A big crowd assembled at the Shore on Friday last (Empire Day) to witness the concluding, day's racing of 1 Takapuna Jockey , ; Club's. Winter .'.. Meeting. Another great ffiiiish^rjwrja^ that for. the Victoria Handica^'iylien' Miss Winnie, Soultmaid arid Certairir ty finished in that order within, heads of each other. The principal handicap was won somewhat /easily by Syren, with Annoyed, a- -big -out- \>, sider, as runner-up. Syren and Miss Winne nroved the winning double^ combination oh the Britannia and Victoria Handicaps, and the resulting dividend was £137 19s. There was again heavy speculation, the. total for the day being £7285*. The grand total for the two days reached ■ £22,756, an increase of £9098, this large^ sum being handled by the totalisator staff with commendable desDatch. Mr Wynyard, secretary, and the assisting workers are to be commended on the excellent conduct of the business arrangements of the meeting, and the club congratulated on the highly successful results.
