Takapuna Winter Meeting.
(May 18th and 24th.) IT seems only necessary that the Takapuna Jockey Cltrb should be favoured with fine weather for their Winter Meeting to prove a very successful fixture. Trie dates are Saturday, 18th inst., and Friday, 24th inst. As the latter day will he observed as a public holiday in Auckland, and with a Saturday for the opening, there should be a big muster at the Shore on both days. The entries are first-class, some of the fields being very large. There is more than the ordinary sprinkling of jumping events on the programme, the concluding stage of the season having been reached, and these will be appreciated by Auckland turfites. At the same time our flat-racers are not yet out of their Autumn stride, and there are plenty of open handicap events to crive variety. "With the glamour of the big success achieved at Avondale, the T.J.C. will naturally hope to have their share of good fortune to close the season with, and g'uaged by_ present nects there is every indication that their anticipations will be realised.
