BICYCLE EVENTS.

One Mile Novice.— A. E. Smith, 1 ; A. Cameron, 2 ; A. Smith, 3. One Mile. — Dacre, 1 ; Reynolds, 2 ; Surman, 3. Three Mile. — Dacre, 1 ; Firth, 2 ; Reynolds. 3. Five Mile.— Reynolds, 1; Surman, 2; Dacre. 3. Another win for Parnell last Saturday. Bob Neill got 7 wickets for 27 runs last Saturday. United had to strike their colours to Auckland last week. Williamson (Gordon II.) batted in real good style against Auckland last Saturday, his leg, hitting being especially good. Neill and Lundon (Auckland) gave the United a taste of their quality last week, the former bowling exceptionally well. King (Parnell) was again to the fore with a brilliant innings. This season has worked a wonderful change in the vet.'s batting. I. Mills (Parnell) played a very stylish innings last Saturday against Gordon, his efforts being greatly admired by the onlookers. Holle, Stone, and Mills were very clever in the field last week. The former's length is of great assistance in this department, and it's very few the others can't stop. If last Saturday's cricket, senior and junior is any criterion either the former's bowling has greatly improved, or the. latter' s batting has had a favourable turn. Sfcnail scores greeted our senior brethren in both matches, while in the majority of cases the juniors rattled up high totals.

Ball. (Gordon) gave as good an exhibition of neat cricket as I have seen for some time. The Maloanoa, Aorere, Iris, Isca, and Rogue, were all at Home Bay last Saturday. The Spray, Tapu, Doris and Bonita visited Mateatea on Saturday, and spent a very good time. The Awaroa and Ina I noticed at St. Helier's last Sunday, and they had an interesting spin home. f C. F. Reid got 19 last week. With a little more practise he will go near reversing those figures. ; What is wrong with the Gordon boys this year, their strong point (fielding) seems to be falling off considerably. ParneH'B fielding is showing a marked improvement this season, and is now among the best on the Domain. Both Auckland's and Parnell's trundlers had something like a picnic in their respective matches last Saturday. Howe and Lawson (Parnell) were too much for the Gordon boys last week, and the wickets fell in rapid succession. Jeffreys expects to have Bis new craft ready for sea next week. She is one of Logan's handiwork, and gives promise of being one of the beat cruising boats in Auckland. Selby (Auckland), who will be identified as the player who so ably assists Onehunga in the Wednesday-afternoon Association matches, got 46 (not out) last week just in the usual way. The Toroa returned from an extended cruise on Saturday last, having spent a first-class time amongst the various islands. On the trip she visited Wairoa, Maraitai, and all the bays in and around Waiheke. On Monday next (Christmas Day) Auckland's representatives proceed South to. meet the doughty Southerners on their own soil ; although the team is weakened by the absence of several of onr most worthy players, yet it comprises a combination of cricketers who are able to take a hand at any branch of the game should necessity arise, and with strict attention to practice they should have the pleasure of lowering the colours of our Southern rivals. Want of space prevents me from giving a detailed notice of the team, but I feel safe in predicting that Auckland's honor will be well sustained in their hands. The following is the final selection : — I. Mills, H. Lawson, E. L. Holle. C. B. King (Parnell), J. N. Powke. J. A. Kallender, T. A. Moresby (Gordon), E. Neill, J. E. Lundon, A. Jacobs (Auckland), C. B. MacCormick, W.Stemson (United). B. L. Holle has been elected captain. I am sure my readers will join me in wishing the team a merry Christmas, a happy .New Year, and a trip successful both on and off the fi«ld.
