See Mr Jas. Martin's announcement re his cabs and other vehicles. On Thursday, 21st inst. Auckland Orchestral Union and Liedertafel will tender a concert to Mr Arthur Towsey. The concert will take the enjoyable form of a moonlight excursion on the harbour, The fine ferry steamer Eagle has been specially engaged. The Eagle leaves Devonport ferry tee at 8 p.m. and will call at the Victoria wharf. This promises to be one of the most enjoyable outings of the season, and Mr Towsey certainly deserves the compliment which the Union and Liedertafel intend to pay him. During the holidays there will be the usual rejoicing and holiday-making, and we suppose a good many will spend their time with a book under a shady tree enjoying the the thoughts of some popular author. The best way to do this is to go to Mears's Library, 248, Queen-street, and procure a book by paying a small deposit. Christmas and New Year Cards a specially attractive feature. (Advt.)
