STRATFOED,
A concert in aid of Mountain Track Fund was held recently, which proved, in spite of the inclement weather, a great success. The number of the fair sex was rather limited, but among the few I noticed L.M. and M.T., from Inglewood, they looked very nice ! But what waß wrong with M.T.? In the place of the usual bright smile she wore a dark, oh, such a dark frown. What could it mean ? A lover's quarrel ? Oh, no ; I heard all about it the next day.' It happened that in crossing, the street to the hall she accidentally fell into the water-table, better known as Gurtis's Lake. How disgusting ! and then having to remain ' wet shod ' all the evening. Truly you have my sympathy, M., but I was horrified to hear that the young man who was in your company, instead of going to your assistance, stood there and gave vent to an unearthly lia, ha, ha ! I am ashamed of you, sir. Where were you brought up ? . . A.G.C. is quite ' gone ', on the charmer, but he keepsthe dark side of the street until she has" completed her shopping. Sly dog, A. . : There are two young girls (sisters, by the way) who are fond of talking to the young chaps in the. shady corners of the shops. Beware of the 0.M., girls.
