NEW PLYMOUTH.
Who were the young men at the yearly meeting of the New Plymouth Gymnasium Club who took a lively interest in all the discussions, and faithfully promised to become members, and now that the gymnasium has started they don't seem to care about stumping up... The Obsebvee is in great demand every week. The topic of the day : Who is the 0.M.? The knowing ones are all at sea. They discuss it every morning at the barber's shop with other matters of importance, when H.\Vt presides. Still they are a good way off. . . Borough Council constructing another switohback. This one is in the east end, for the use of the children at the central school. Thie is how our rates g0. . . What will M.I. and S.E. do now that the station gates are looked on through train nights ? . .It's too bad of H.W. to hit hia Wealeyan friends so hard, 'cause you know they don't like it... F. and Miss Y. seemed to be enjoying themselves on Thursday afternoon basking in the sun not 100 miies away from the mouth of the Henui... Tukapua barrackers are well to the front this season. . . I see somebody takes a member of the choir out for drives on Thursday afternoons. Have you asked her papa yet?..C. has taken up sittinga for two on the Powderham-street bridge. What will the fair-haired young ladies of Stratford say ?
