HUNTLY.
We have lost an old familiar face from our midst. Poor Bobby Craw- , ford recently died a t the Hamilton Hospital, of typhoid fever, another victim of the 'Huntly fever bed. Harry P. is all there when a fresh face arrives (female of course) ; he has captured another school teacher. 'Arry's the boy for the girls. A wise step has been taken by two of our leading butchers, who, instead of opposing one another as hitherto, have entered into partnership. It now reads, Harris and Connelly, who meet on equal terms. Tom Steel is quite proud of his little daughter. He says it is so small, he. is confident that it is the image of himself. " Ralph's new shaft is working with cages, and more miners will soon be requir. d, as they are opening out as quickly as possible. The coal is of good quality 100. There is an employee named Bob, a step above the miners,, at the Taupiri Extended Co's Shaft, who runs and tells his boss every trivial occurrence that happens in the township, and he stretches slightly too. For instance, if a man goes to the hotel for one pint of beer, this noted ' blow hard ' will spread it around that he is beastly drunk.
