A Nest of Infamy in Auckland.
Few Auoklanders care to admit the existence of gambling dens, and such like haunts, where crowds of young men are ruined through the villainy of comrades much more steeped in debauchery. Despite this, there flourishes in a back room, not far from Queen-street, a club where gambling and orgies are of nightly occurrence. Some people will at once discredit this statement, simply because the police have not taken action. Well, they are welcome to do so, but the fact still remains, and if Inspector Broham desires to root out this nest of infamy, he can soon obtain the necessary information, if he has not already secured it. Those who frequent this den belong to the so-called elite of Auckland, and instead of paying their just debts, they regularly meet in this back room of a supposed reepectable club, and fritter away what little they possess.
