NGARUAWAHIA.

A very amusing thing occurred at Dr Canaris's performance on Tuesday evening. When the doctor was performing with the mesmerised skull, a young man (lately married) whispered in the doctor's ear to ask Tom (as the doctor called the skull) how many children he was going to have. The doctor asked Tom, amid great laughter, and Tom started knocking, and before the doctor could stop him he had reached the number of 57. The laughter, shouting, whistling and stamping had so increased that the doctor was obliged to put Tom away, and the doctor hopes William is satisfied with the number. It was fun for all but William.
