Miss Jennie Lee.
To Bay that Miss Jennie Lee has hit the public taste in Auckland does not adequately express the ) favourable impression this talented and vivacious little lady has made in this city. She is nightly adding to her already lengthy list of admirers, acd it is quite a treat to see the Opera House filled with people once more. Since our last issue, the company have produced 'The Grasshopper,' which is an adaptation of Mr J. P. Burnett s, and scored a big success. This, however, had to be withdrawn to make roon for one of the wildest little comedy-dramas we have jet seen, entitled 'Jack -in -theBox ' It is full of « go,' and the interest of the audience is enlisted from the rise of the curtain. The piece is brimful of humour, with just an occasional dash of pathos thrown in. The wild, harum-scarum charaoter Of • Jack-in-the-Box ' is taken by Miss Jennie Lee, and she plays the part with the proper dash and spirit that provokes the audience to bursts of wild enthusiasm. This cheeky and irrepressible boy always bobs up serenely and at very opportune times, so that villainy gets no show worth speaking about. The other characters are all ably sustained by the excellent company. < Jack-in-the-Box 'is a huge success. On Friday next the management intend producing ' Eun Wild.
