How Mr Seddon Tickled the Tories.

The editors of the Tory Globo Press are vociferous in their praises of the Hon. ' Dick ' Seddon over his treatment of the Christchurch unemployed. One of the latter referred to Sir Harry Atkinson— who had called the unemployed loafers— as little better than a loafer himself, in the Hon. Dick's august presence. Thereupon the Hon. Dick was virtuously indignant, or pretended to be,. and the unhappy workless one had to apologise. Well, considering the way Sir Harry jobbed himself into an easy £600 a year for life, at the working people's expense, I do not blame the man for calling him a loafer and ' Dick ' need not have taken it to heart. He has been rough on Sir Harry himself many a time. But now times are changed, and I suppose he feels kindly to the man whose hobnails he has succeeded to.
