PONSONBY.
Who are the three young fellows that ride alon<? Ponsonby Road every evening on those machines called bicycles ? They look extremely well, especially Jimmy, when he has that cadger in his mouth. Who is the young man of Newton with the full-grown moustache that is so eager to have a smack at the Ponsonby boy ? Gavin, you ought to be ashamed of yourself. Shelly beach is fast becoming a favourite resort for picnickers, as also for nurse-maids, who flock there every day to give the kids and perambulators a taste of the nice sea breeze. A young grocer boy was eager to have a ride on a spirited horse the other night, but what was his surprise when it bolted with him, only being stopped on its headlong course by running into a fence. He ought to give up the grocery biz and go a-jockeying.
