A. Serious Accusation.
Mr Edwin Harrow, in a letter sent to the Board of Education, makes mention of a serious charge marl 9 against a public school teacher, and not sa'isfaetovily disposed of, of hiving caused the death of a pupil. The Chairman of School Committee had a child at school, and that child died of an affection of the head some time after having been struck on the head by the teacher. Statements have been publicly made that the death resulted from the beating the child got ; but the School Committee deolines to make any inquiry, and it is said that the teacher and Chairman have ' squared ' matters to their own satisfaction. Mr Harrow contends that it is not in the public interest that grave charges of this kind should be hushed up. Either the teacher has been grossly libelled, or he is utterly unfit to have the control of youth. We trust the Board ef Education will do something to satisfy the public in this oase.
