SIR GEO. MAURICE O'EOBKE,
■who seeks re-election for Manuk&u, is a genial, jovial, brilliant Irishman, as well qualified to crack a joke and a bottle aS to translate Euripides or manage a Larrikin Parliament. He is, for palpable reasons, a warm supporter of Atkinsonian extravagance and corruption. O'Eorke has been over a quarter of a century in public life, during which time he has pocketed over £30,000 of public hard cash. Most of this has found its way back to the 'public,' no doubt; at all events, O'Eorke has for years been in a state of chronic iropecuniosity. A man who has co abused his opportunities and exhibited personally such a shocking example ought not to be in a position of honour and responsibility. A notorious party man, and one financially involved, ought not to be Speaker of the House of Representatives ; and if O'Eorke had a high sense of honour he would retire from the position before he is kicked out of it, as an impecunious Speaker was the other week in Sydney. As he has not the good breeding to do this, the electors of IViaxsukau who have their i emulation and the country's welfare at heart 3hould give him an lushrnau's rise to the bottom of the poll on Friday next.
