MR FKANK LAWRY

is a politician of some standing. Like all politicians, he has made mistakes ; but the biggest one he ever made was in standing as a candidate for Parnell, instead of contesting either Franklin or Manukau, which between them absorbed his former constituency. Had Lawry done his duty, he would have ousted from the House a bloated sinecurist and a blind supporter of Atkinsonian extravagance and Civil Service corruption. He has deliberately chosen to contest Parnell against a candidate whose political creed is quite as liberal as his own, and who has the advantage of being 'new blood.' I shall be sorry to see Lawry out of the House ; but my grief is tempered by the thought that his little dodge will not save Manukau and Franklin for the paity of extravagance and corruption. Adieu, Lawry.
