SOCIETY.

Thebe was quite a large gathering of friends at All" J Saints' Church -on .Tuesday, Nov. 4th, to witness they i marriage of, Mr Arthur Percy Bo wring and Miss Lily j' Laird. '■.T < he fair bride was charmingly attired in white \ nun's veiling with' watered silk trimmings. The brides- i maids, Miss Laird and Miss Emily Bowring, looked very I pretty i^ blue and. cream dresses, and tulle hats with | pink TOBebuds. They were accompanied by two little 1 sister*!' o£*fche bride, who were dressed in white and ) cariried.bas'kets of flowers. It was altogether a reeJbercJie i ,affairV;;la the harbour the N.S.S.Co's boats were '{ decorated for the occasion. We wish the young newly \ married couple every happiness and prosperity. \

It is quite pitiful when one attends the Opera House to see the great number.;of young, men who suffer from squinting eyes. One young "gentleman, who is quite an enthusiast of the stage, has had to give over attending on account of his eyes suffering. Night after night ha has attended, and has always had the good fortune to get seated behind a lady with a tall hat, and haa had to dodge here and there in vain endeavours to catch a glimpse of the artistes, and only being rewarded by a sight of a selfish head and a' tall hat trimmed with all kinds of falderals, and at last has had to put himself under tbe care of a doctor to be treated for squint. Our girls should dhow a little more foresight in this respect, for we are sure that not many of them would care about marrying a man with one eye looking towards the east and the other towards the west.
