DUNEDIN.
The Cunningham v. Pettengell fight was an exceedingly tame affair, and looked as if it had been arranged beforehand that Cunningham was to win ; the blow that Pettengell went down with, would hardly hurt a fly. ..About seven thousand people gathered at the Caledonian Grounds on Saturday evening to witness the intended balloon ascent but which did not come off. It was dreadfully blowy and on that account Professor Baldwin had to change his plans. The peopleinsisted upon haying their tickets returned... What a nice little walk W.J.C. had with Miss O.C. last Sunday ; they looked like a pair of turtle doves ; cards and cake shortly I believe... W.M. is putting on a lot of sida down here ; travels about with two young bits of muslin, not satisfied with 0ne...K., of the Temperance, was doing a terrible mash with W. at the fireworks ; What will S. say when he comes back from Melbourne ?
