SOCIAL GATHERING AT SACRED HEART SCHOOL.
A very enjoyable little social took place at the hall, corner of Pitt and Wellingtonstreets, on Monday evening, in aid of the funds of St. Benedict's Church. The hall was nicely decorated for the occasion, and dancing was kept up with vigour xintil the wee sma' hours of the morning. The music was supplied by Sheehau's Band during a part of the evening, ably assisted by Mr Weinberg, of the 'Silver King' Company. A list of some of the most noticeable dresses worn appears below. The honours of the evening were divided between Miss L. Staunton, Miss O'Neill, and Miss Ryan, the former lady wearing a cardinal cashmere, with feather trimming, and the latter two a pale blue sateen, trimmed with white lace and cardinal ribbon, and a pale blue nun's veiling, trimmed with ribbon of the same shade. The others were as follows : Miss Lewisson, black broche, trimmed with lace ; Mrs Gregory, slate-coloured silk ; Mrs Brophy, black silK ; Mrs Lannigan, slate-coloured broche, trimmed with satin ; Miss Donovan, cardinal satin ; Miss Connolly, chocolate- coloured silli, trimmed with lace to match ; Miss O'Brien, pale pink, trimmed with white lace ; Miss Farquhar, black cashmere; Miss O'Dowd, cream nun's veiling, trimmed with satin of the same shade ; Miss Watson, white marcella; Miss Brannigan, white marcella and cardinal ; Miss Molloy, cream nun's veiling ; Miss Field, black silk, with bead trimming ; Miss Stephenson, sage-coloured cashmere, with feather trimming; Miss Agnes Kelly, black cashmere, trimmed with black satin; Mrs Purcell, black satin ; Mrs Fortzer, lavender satin ; Mrs Kelly, black silk ; Miss Bowes, Indian muslin ; Miss Knight, Indian muslin ; the Misses Brophy, marone cashmere, trimmed with velvet of same colour ; Miss Donovan, pink muslin ; Miss Lonergan, black satin ; Miss Heffernan, black velvet. During the evening Mr Martin and Miss Molloy danced an Irish jig. We must not forget to mention that Mr Jno. Patterson officiated as M.C. and gave universal satisfaction.
