RUAKAKA RHYMES.
(A medium at Ruakaka received the following, from the spirit of Bobby Burns) — The parson's pets came here t© telL — Ha ! ha ! the telling o' it ! Asking wha -would liquor sell — Ha ! ha ! the selling o' it ! At the Court House they gat fou 5 ,'. Bach wi' finger in his mou', Stupid as a fuddled sow— Ha ! ha ! the fuddle o' it. When the fine was duly made — Ha ! ha ! the making o' it 1 Settlers by subscription paid — Ha ! ha ! the paying o' it ! Hunted over hill and glade -*"^ Disappeared the pets in the shade.Quite disgusted wi' their raid — Ha ! ha I the raiding o' it ! Then the parson prayed and sang— Ha I ha ! the praying o' it 1 Loud, insipid,. dry, and lang — Ha ! ha ! the lang'mg o' it ! Riddling ainners wi' a bang, And twist o' Gospel into slang Wi' Yankee ecclesiastic twang — Ha ! ha ! the twanging o' it ! ■ S — s — laughed, and others grinned— Ha ! ha ! the grinning o' it ! Sandy groaned at how they sinned—Ha ! ha ! the groaning o' it ! More at how the pews were thinned,. While the flock was left unskinned, As faith in him became unpinned — Ha ! ha ! the skinning o' it.
