NOT ABROAD THIS TIME.
A certain dispenser of drugs having sent Ms olive branches to one of our public schools, received a gentle intimation that a small fee for incidentals, such ns slate pencils and the like, was levied and payable in advance.. He wrote across the notice that he would attend to the matter, and thought no more about it. A few days after his little boy brought home from school an order for certain medicaments, such as arnica And one or two other things, handy to hayc around where a crowd of boys daily suffer accidental and other injuries in the pursuit of the customary infantile sports. The purveyor of black draughts made up the parcel and duly despatched it to the pedagogue. He received, in due course, a receipted bill for the school requisites and the balance _ of the drugs in cash, with a polite intimation that as he had found it inconvenient to settle the total amount in money, this method of taking the dues out in kind, and at the same time relieving him of a few surplus mixtures, had been hit upon as a happy means of squaring matters in a manner pleasing to both parties. Somehow, the man of pills did not seem to see it.
