Mrs Murphy (widow of the late Oapt. Murphy, of the s.s. Huia) has opened a toy and general fancy goods shop on Ponsonby Koad, opposite the Wesleynn Church. She has thus supplied a felt want in this neighbourhood. Her stock i 3 varied, well selected, and tasteful. The goods are marked below town prices, and should command the support of the public in the locality.

An old maid died recently in Norway, leaving a will, in which she directed that her estate be divided into six equal parts, and distributed to her six discarded lovers, who are all poor.
