THE COUNTRY
DAEG-AVILLE. — Eojnolds, our well-known local boat-builder, has just turned out a first-class open boat under 20 feet, which will figure in the forthcoming regattas here and at Auckland. She has been built to the order of two of the sporting men of the Wairoa, and they are open to take a few "long shots " that she will take the championship of the Waitemata. The boat will be named The Demon. Host Rayncs is making great improvements in his hotel. When completed, it will be second to none in Auckland. There will be a first-class billiard table, the one thing above others perhaps most needed in Dargaville for a long time past. The cricket, season will commence here on the 15th inst. The opening match will be Te Kopuru v. Northern Wairoa. The Maoris are starting to put Harold in training for the forthcoming races. — —There has been some very heavy spooning done on Lynch's balcony lately.
