-—Misses A., H., and K. divided the honours at the Alexandra dance. —The Bachelors' ball at Kihikihi eventuated on the 17th, and in spite of short notice and bad weather was a great success. — There were ructions amongst the school committee as to whether the school should be let for the dance or not ; but, owing to the superhuman efforts of the worthy secretaries, matters were arranged at the eleventh hour. — The Alexandra Amateurs were very successful iv the performance of several farces last Friday evening, but the effect wns slightly marred through some of the actors persistently turning their backs on the audience and speaking in a sort of pig's whisper instead of their ordinary tone of voice. —The latest craze is the Te Awamutu Rink. Jones, Brown, and Robinson are all members, and appear to enjoy it immensely. There you will see the scribo, "cheek by jowl" with the blacksmith's assistant, flying madly forward in the race, not for life, but fame ns a rinkist. Our worthy postmaster has come out of his shell, and, in spite of the babies, attends the rink regularly, and conies down on his — well, not his feet, with marvellous sangfroid.
