On one clay last week, I believe, St. Andrew's Day, three lads were fishing off Duck Bay, when one of them, in pulling up his line, found something drag heavily on it. He hauled it up until he could just discern a dark mass through the water, but suddenly the hook slipped from its hold and the object sank again. Judge of the lad's horror when lie found his hooks covered with human hair. In a great fright the boys
"upkellick" and pulled home and have never informed the authorities of the affair. Now, there is not the slighest doubt that the hair is genuine, as it has been preserved and shown to several persons, and the body must be that of the poor lad who was drowned a few weeks ago off Kauri Point. Would it not be worth while for the water police even now to drag about the spot and try to recover the body for decent burial.
