“NO TANGIBLE REASON.”

RUGBY BREAKAWAY. THAMES AND THE VALLEY. “AN AGGRESSIVE STAND." Reference to the breakaway of tlm Thames Rugby Union from the Thame., Valley Union, at the beginning of lasi season, was contained in the annum report to the Thames V alley lvugbj Union, states the Ilauraki Plains Gazette, by the president, Mr. C. Burt, and the secretary, Mr. W. D. Nicholas, The report stated: —

“The Thames Union asked to dis sociate themselves with us and afli liate with the Auckland Rugby Union. A conference of the threo bodies concerned was held. The meeting was remarkable for the very aggressive stand taken by Mr. G. Price, a Thames Rugby Union delegate. A full discus sion took place, and while no tangible reason was proved for cancelling affiliation or any disadvantage shown

through being part or this union, soiffo of the delegates felt that as there was a division in Rugby eireles at Thames it might help them to carry on more happily if the request was granted. At a later meeting of this union the decision was made to “"allow Thames to secede.” “BREACH OF FAITH.” COMMENT BY MR. PRICE. . “I have no comment to make,” stated Mr. G. W. Price, chairman of the Thames Rugby Union Management Committee, when the paragraph above was referred to him this morning, “other than to state that in view of the fact that the fact that the con-

ference was taken in eommitt'c, it is a breach of faith on the part of those

responsible to make any comment.”
