HALF-YEARLY PERIOD
ALL-ROUND INCREASE. FEWER KACING DAYS. Totalisator investments for the six months ended January amounted to £3,810,197, compared with £3,242,085 for the same period in 11137, according to the latest issue of the Abstract of Statistics. Tor the period the number of racing days was 153, and the number of races 1210 against 15(3 and 1232 last year. Stakes amounted to £20(5,723 against £228,074, and the amount paid in dividends was £3,145,800, compared with £2,077,293.
Government taxes amounted to
£322,511. against £273,702 for the similar period in 1937.
