SHOOTING SEASON.
CHANGE OF DATE.
OPENING ON MAY 2.
CLASSES OP GAME.
[By T«ieffrapn.— Press Association] AUCKLAND, March 25.
Becauso May 1 this year falls upon a Sunday, a change has been made in the opening date of the shooting season, and it will extend from May 2 to June 30. Although various amendments have been made to the shooting regulations in a supplement to the Gazette affecting the Animals Protection and Game Act, no difference will be noticeable by sportsmen in the Auckland acclimatisation district.
The imported and native game which may be shot are cock pheasant, Callfornian and Australian quail, mallard and grey duck, pukcko and black swan. The regulations forbid the use of aeroplanes except for transportation, the use of power boats except for trans-
port for camping purposes, or the use of silencers and live decoys. Provision is made for the occupier of a property or any son or daughter to kill imported and native game without license on their property during an open season. The occupier may, in ■writing, appoint one other person to shoot in his stead.
