ASSOCIATION WORK. MOVEMENT IN THAMES. ANNUAL MEETING HELD. The annual meeting of the Thames St. John Ambulance Association was held last evening, the president, Mr. R. M. Khodes, presiding over a fair attendance. In his preliminary remarks, the president said that tho St. John movement was firmly established in the town and it warranted the unstinted support of the public. The annual report stated that the finances were in a satisfactory position. Thanks were accorded Mr. 11. Rowe and his assistants for their organisation of functions, and also to Mr. J. A. Briggs, who, during the year, had found it necessary to resign his position.
Feeling reference was made to tho passing of Mr. W. B. Gilmore, a valued member of the executive. The balance-sheet showed receipts totalling £llß/11/-, the opening balance of which was £74/14/8. Payments totalled £29/17/8, leaving a balance, of £B4/18/99, which, with cash in hand, £3/14/7, totalled £BB 13/4. Assets over liabilities Avere set down at £136/6/8.
The fifth annual report from the Brigade stated that the movement was flourishing and the strength vras now 15. The Division had attended sports fixtures, and had, while on duty, attonded to 272 first-aid cases, many of which necessitated hospital treatment. Besides these, 107 private cases had been attended. Election of Officers. Officers elected for the ensuing year were: — Patron, Mr. J. Thorn, M.P.; president, office to be fiilled by committee; vice-presidents, Messrs. W. B. McDonald and H. Rowe; secretary, left to committee to fill position; treasurer, Mr. S. Ensor; auditor, Mr. E. 0. Brownlce; committee, Messrs W. B. Teasdale, R. M. Rhodes, C. T. Fearn, W. H. Lloyd, and Mesdames M. Wilson, ;T. Thorn, T. Miller, B. Ludwig and Miss Noble. The nominees from the Brigade to the committee will be made later. In connection with the office of president, three nominations were made in rotation, but none of these men would accept office, and the retiring president would not reconsider his decision of retiring. A similar posTFion arose over the office of secretary.
A vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Rhodes for his splendid work as prcsisident.
