WAIHI HOSPITAL.
QUESTION OF STATUS. RUMOUR OF A LOWERING. DENIAL BY CHAIRMAN. "The general feeling in Waihi ia that the Board has in mind the lowerJig of tho status of the Waihi Hospital, as the result of its visit there last week," said Mr. W. C. Kennedy, at the Thames Hospital Board meeting yesterday. "I hope there is no suggestion of the lowering of the status of the Waihi or Coromandel Hospitals," added Mr. Kennedy. "The lowering of the status is being done by the residents of Waihi, through them not being loyal to their hospital," declared Mr W. Madgwick. "The Waihi people are anxious to go into their institution," replied Mr. Kennedy, "but at present it is not just their fault that they do not." "As for tho matter of status," commented the chairman, Mr. P. E. Brenan. "It is safe for any member of the Board to tell the man in the street that the lowering of status has never been discussed by the Board. Waihi hospital status could not be lower than it is to-day," added Mr. Brenan.
