PARENTS' ASSOCIATION.

SOUTH SCHOOL PROJECT. FORMING ORGANISATION. ENTHUSIASTIC MEETING. In spite of the inclement weather last evening, a fair number of parents met at the South School with a view to forming a Parents' Association. Mr. J. McLcod was voted to tho chair, and he called on the headmaster, Mr. 11. Fen wick, to explain tho aims and objects of such an organisation.

The chief aim of such a body, explained Mr. Fcnwick, was to bring the parent and teacher into closer contact. Both were working for the wclfaro and progress of the child, and if each had the confidence and co-operation of the other, better results would bo attained.

Parents could be of great assistance to the school in many ways, said Mr. Penwick. They could assist at all school functions; they were able to depend the interests of the school in times of stress and change; they elected the School Committee and formed a social centre round which the life of the community revolved. Several parents spoke in favour of the project, and it was decided that a further meeting be called to draw up a constitution..

Subsequently, the question of holding •i Paddy's Market at the school on Friday, February 25, was enthusiastically taken up and all present undertook to help forward the project. Final arrangements are to be made at tho next meeting, to be held on Wednesday evening next. "»
