BASKETBALL DANCE. FUNCTION AT N GATE A. LARGE CROWD PRESENT. One ul the most successful functions acid .in Ngateu llall for some time was the Jiauraki i’lains Ladies’ Basketball Association’s first ball, held last evening. It was well patronised, there being free buses from Waitakaruru, Kerepeehi, and Thames, and visitors were present from Wailii and. To Arolia. Great credit is due to the committee, Mesdames C. R. Tilly, A. Johnston, D. R. Waite, R. Williams, 11. Mules and Miss Corbett, in organising such a splendid evening. Mr. J. W. Neate was M.C., and miisie was supplied by the Melody Boys.
Prior to the adjournment for supper, Mrs. Tilly, president of the Association, look the opportunity of thanking all for their support and attendance, and presented the cup, donated by Mr. S. S. Murray, to the Turua A team, and the cup donated by Mrs. D. A. Waite, to the Ngatea High School A team.
A 500 card tournament was won by Mrs. J. Nicholson and Mr. J. Dalgety, and the Monte Carlo prize went to Miss A. Field and' Mr. G. Moller.
