FOURTH CHALLENGE.
PEACE CUP AT STAKE. Plains Versus Thames. BIG GAME TO-MORROW. HIGH SCHOOL CUETAIN-RAISEI^ For the fourth time this season, and the sixth time since winning the trophy, the Thames Rugby reps, will defend the Peace Cup at Rhodes Park to-morrow, this time against Hauraki Plains. The Plains team has had a fair run of success this season against other Valley teams, and some critics place it on a par with Paeroa. If such is the case, Thames will have no easy task. Early in July a Plains team was defeated by the Thames B team for the Birch Cup, but on that occasion four or five Plains men were included in the Thames Valley team. As it was, the visitors showed much promise. A change or two has been made in the Thames side. J. Ake will be behind the scrum, and 0. Hayward will be on the wing, marking either Olsen or Sparrow, both fast, tricky runners. The visiting inside backs are also smart movers and will take some watching. The only change in the Thames forwards is the inclusion of J. Strange. Thames High School and Sacred Heart College teams will provide the curtain-raiser, and a junior rep. trial game will also be played.
