TO-MORROW'S RACING.

CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB. GRAND NATIONAL MEETING. THE TWO CHIEF EVENTS. With the hunting season in "full swing much interest is being taken in the Grand National meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Club, which opens at llicearton to-morrow. All the events on the programme have attracted good fields, the two steeplechases showing the smallest acceptances. The Big Steeples. The principal race on the programme is the Grand National Steeplechase, of 3-A miles, for which ten have accepted, Royal Limond heading the list with 11.0. Next to him comes Irish 'Comet, who accounted for the Great Northern Steeplechase at Ellerslie in June. Should the latter produce anything like his Ellerslie form he must take a lot of beating. Another entrant that is favoured in many quarters is Burglar, on account of his good showing at the recent Trentham meeting, where he won two events decisively. Pahu's second to Santoft at the last Trentham meeting gives him more than a sporting chance. Of the others engaged, most of them have not been doing much work, and m'ay find it difficult to stay out the distance, The favourite selection may be: IRISH COMET, BURGLAR, PAHU. Winter Cup. The .Winter Cup, of one mile, is the principal.fl.at race of the afternoon, and this event has drawn a large field of 22- acceptors, Concert-pitch being topweight with an impost of 9112. His recent effort in running a good second to Dictate in the Brabazon Handicap impressed, and he will have a large following. Prom late reports, Ponty has improved in his work, and his dead-heat with Enge at Trentham as a recommendation should command good support. Through his win just lately, Dictate has been allotted increased weight, but this should not keep him out of the picture. The favourites on the machine may be:

CONCERTPITCH, PONTY, DICTATE.
